The Griffiths were the proud wining bidders of my silent auction donation to the Our House Tie One On event, which was held earlier this month. I was so excited that the winning bidder wanted to shoot their portrait so quickly after the event and that the Griffiths have a big, beautiful family with lots of smiling faces with perfectly polite and sweet personalities. I've never met a group of kids so well behaved - each child actually shook my hand an introduced themselves to me before we began shooting. My hat is off to Andrea and Barry for raising an amazing bunch of kiddos!
Here are a few of my favorite portraits from our session together:
This couple is clearly madly in love with each other and love to laugh, which made my job easy and fun!
This last shot is my FAVORITE. Love the light, love the barn, love the happy kids and a glowing Mom!
Rowan turned seven last month, and she had an awesome party to celebrate! Rowan's mom, Amy, enlisted the help of Play Patterns to create some custom decorations for the panda party theme. Here are some of my favorite details and a few portraits of the birthday girl:
Amy Hardin is one of my favorite wedding vendors to work with! She and her Mom have Details, Weddings & Events, a full-service event design and coordination company. They are awesome at what they do and always so much fun to work with! I was super excited when Amy talked to me about shooting her family holiday portraits because she has a little boy who is about the same age as my Emma-Kate AND she wanted to include their horses in the portraits. Awesome light, a spunky toddler and an extra eight legs?? Bring on the photo goodness!!
Here are some of my favorite images from the Hardin's holiday portraits
Amy and Jon met when they were 14 showing horses...
Remember Jennifer and Micah? They were married back in January (see their wedding photos here!), and decided they needed some holiday portraits for their christmas cards. We met at The Old Mill in North Little Rock and had a great time with their little dog, Bonnie Blue, Here are a few of my favorites from their holiday mini-session:
A few weekends ago, I spent my Saturday morning photographing some amazing families. I organized this portrait event with Our House, a local shelter for the working homeless, in order to give a few deserving families some beautiful portraits. It was an experience that I cannot yet put into words as eloquently as I would like, but I wanted to go ahead and share the photos here.
I keep thinking back to that day and simply feel overwhelmed by emotion. I think it's easy to forget how lucky we are, how much we have to be thankful for, and how easy it is to go along with our day-to-day lives and not think about the bigger picture. All of these families are working hard to better themselves and to create a better life for their children. I can't think of another situation in my life where I've been around such nice, humble and appreciative women and truly happy kids. I walked away feeling so much love for my own daughter, and determined to find a way to do more for families like these...
Baby Klein's 6-month portraits are here! He and his sweet parents made a trip to Little Rock from Stuttgart for the occasion. Isn't this little guy the cutest?? And didn't Krista do an amazing job putting together their looks? Precious!
It's a what to wear blog post! One of the questions I get asked often is "what should we wear?" Your clothing choices are an important part of creating beautiful photographs. For a family session, it's important that your outfits compliment eachother, but not match exactly. Choose a few colors that you like and mix it up, match it up and layer. Accessories and shoes can help bring your look together, so add scarves, jewelry and hats to create a cohesive look.
Since we're approaching the family and holiday portrait season, I thought it would be a great idea to share a few ideas on what to wear to help you put together a great family look for your session. All of the clothes, shoes and accessories can be found at Gap, Old Navy and Piperlime.
