Emma-Kate Turns Two!

The light of my life turned two this week. She is the most special person I've ever known and the love that I feel for her is inexplicable. Everyday with her is a gift and I'm so thankful to be her Mom. At two, some of her favorite things to do are singing B-I-N-G-O, painting and drawing, playing with her toy animal collection and playing chase around the house. Summer Fun at Pensacola Beach

My family and I have been going to Pensacola Beach for 25 years. It's probably my favorite place in the US because we always stay at the same house and it really feels like going home every time we make a trip down there - but better than home because it's the BEACH! An Exciting Announcement!

Andrew and I are excited to announce that we're having another baby! Baby Hubbell #2 is due December 12th and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect Christmas gift. Although we have always planned on more than one child and are more than elated with the pregnancy, this was a bit of a surprise to us. Fortunately, it seems that the timing is right and we trust that God's plan is the right one. Loosing Andrew's Mom and Uncle was a rough way to end 2010, so we're very happy to have a bundle of joy on the way to help us celebrate life and start anew in 2012. I want to let my existing clients, wedding vendors and anyone interested in booking a session or a wedding with me know that you need not worry! I still have a Holiday portrait special and a Holiday boudoir marathon planned, but these sessions will be held a little earlier than usual. I plan to take maternity leave beginning in mid-November through March or April and hit the ground running when wedding season begins next year. Family Time

It's been a while since I've done a personal  post. To be honest, it's just been a little tough to open myself up and share anything personal over the past several months. In December, my mother-in-law past away unexpectedly and a few days later Andrew's uncle died, also out-of-the-blue. Needless to say, things have been tough and although we've been doing alright it is difficult to slow down and think too much about what has happened to our family. There is nothing more powerful than the bond of family and believing in your faith during a time of loss. It's been very important to me and Andrew to find extra time to spend together as a couple, as a family with Emma-Kate and also with our larger, extended family and friends. Time spent talking about our lost loved ones, evenings spent over dinner and wine, doing nothing much but watching our kids play, and simply spending more time together has been incredibly healing. Knowing that the wedding season is about to hit full force and my time will soon be split a million different directions, Andrew and I wanted to take some time just for 'us' to be alone for a weekend...

Snow Day – Little Rock Lifestyle Photography

It's the tenth day of the new year and it has been an unbelievably beautiful day. Yesterday evening around 3 o'clock it began to flurry, and it snowed until the wee hours of the morning. Andrew and I put Emma-Kate to bed and snuck out of the house for a few minutes to soak up how beautiful our neighborhood looked blanketed in snow. Nothing makes me happier than a good snowfall, so I was grinning from ear to ear while we walked up and down our street. There were no cars, no people, no dogs - nothing but glittering flakes falling magically from the glowing sky. Home for the Holidays

Thanksgiving and Christmas are my two favorite holidays of the year. There is something so warm and magical about the weeks between these two major holidays, and I just plain love everything about the season. Spending time with my favorite people, gathering around a big table to share a wonderful meal, decorating until my feet ache and baking up delicious goodies in the kitchen make me a very happy woman. Having a child to share this time with is more rewarding than I ever could have imagined.  I'm lucky to be Emma-Kate's Mom and to show her all of the wondrous things that make up this time of year. Every year we spend Thanksgiving week with my parents in Fayetteville and most of the Christmas festivities and celebrating with Andrew's family in Little Rock. Last week was non-stop hustle and bustle and entirely too much eating. I Salute You

Today is Veteran's Day and it makes me stop and think about sacrifice and love. My family and my life have been directly affected by war and its consequences. Several members of my family are veterans and have served their country proudly and honorably. Today, I'm thinking mostly of my Dad and Andrew, and how service and sacrifice have effected them. My uncle, Eddie, was killed in Vietnam in 1970. He had been in combat for only two months and was 20 years young. The loss of Eddie devastated my grandmother and forever changed my father, his father and his siblings. Even though I never knew my uncle, I have always felt a connection to him and have always been touched by how much he meant to my Dad. There is a piece missing from my father that cannot ever be recovered, and it hurts to know that his family, like too many families, had to deal with the reality and tragedy of war. My husband, Andrew, was in the Army when I met him. The idea of him being deployed was a hazy possibility in the distance of our love-struck reality.  Within three or four months of moving to Little Rock...

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! This past weekend we had a blast celebrating the spookiest of holidays with Emma-Kate and family. Our sweet girl dressed up as a pink poodle and Andrew and I dressed as a 50's sock-hop couple - poodle skirt and all!
