Motherhood. It's the most amazing, life changing, whirlwind, joyous, non-stop role a woman can have. One of my favorite things about photographing mothers is that a photoshoot with me gives them a few hours of quiet. A small amount of time alone, focused on themselves. It's a chance to relax, have fun and feel totally pampered. Capturing who you are today, as your kids see you, is one of the most precious gifts a mother can give herself and her children. Your kids love you just as you are, not 5 years younger or 10 pounds lighter. To them, you are the most beautiful woman alive. The story of a mom is so special that I wanted to create something unique. Something to showcase just how beautiful moms are and how precious the time is when our little ones are young. Curious about how much of my work is photoshopped? Well, not that much. I try always to keep my clients looking like my clients. My goal for every shoot is NOT for you to look nothing like yourself. I want you to feel amazing in your own skin, but that said, sometimes our skin could use a little help. Personally, ever since I turned 30, I feel like a teenager again! Breakouts, oily skin - it's crazy and when I'm photographed I want that stuff minimized! When you come into my studio, the makeup is really what makes a transformation. Bold and smokey versus natural makes a huge difference in the end product and how your images look. Regardless of how we style your session, I always retouch the same way for every client. It's pretty simple and not a crazy, dramatic transformation like you might see some supermodels go through in fashion editorials. Here's my checklist: Remove blemishes Reduce under eye circles (I don't remove them completely because that looks unnatural and, well, fake! We all have a bit of shadow under our eyes) Smooth skin and even out skin tone Soften wrinkles (again, I don't completely remove these, but I reduce and soften) Enhance eyes Pump...

Some of my favorite shoots to photograph are maternity sessions. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who is glowing with life. Being a mother myself, I know just how special this time is for a woman. It's also a time when most of women don't feel like their usual selves. As the days on the calendar inch closer to the due date, our feet and ankles begin to swell, backs begin to ache and fatigue sets in. This is the perfect time for an expectant mommy to spend some time feeling pampered and beautiful. Recently, I had the pleasure of documenting Julie's pregnancy.
