[su_spacer size=”10″] [/su_spacer]An Interview and Portrait of Jessica Humerick, Little Rock Makeup Artist and Stylist[su_spacer size=”20″] [/su_spacer]
I have worked with Jessica for going on 4 years. She brings magic to every shoot and makes my clients feel comfortable, relaxed and beautiful. I have begged Jessica to get in front of my lens for years… and, finally, this year I had the pleasure of a quick interview and photographing her beauty and incredible sense of style.

Tell me the three words to describe your personal style
Monochrome, Monochrome, Monochrome.

What path led you to styling and MUA?
I’ve always been intrigued by personal style and aesthetics. How it reflects our beliefs, mood, talismans. Who we are, without having to say a word. As a child, I’ve always been intrigued by beautiful things. The curvature of a french chair, the glimmer of a sequence collar, the way fur feels to the touch. I initially studied interior architecture at The Arts Institute, then after obtaining my first job with a modeling agency… I realized the base of my intrigue lies more in bringing out the beauty of humans. The beauty within us all.

Favorite part of your job? Favorite thing/genre to style?
My favorite part of my career, is the underlying craft. With makeup artistry, it’s the transformation. It’s painting on an ever-changing canvas. With styling: it’s creating a story. Down to the model, choosing different and balancing textures, creating a mood: changing emotions through visual art.

If you could style anyone, in any place with unlimited resources, with any photographer behind the lens, what would that shoot look like?
This is the hardest question of all. My inspirations shift constantly. Right now I’m currently hypnotized by ancient Chinese couture. I will say Tim Walker was the photographer that initially blew my mind. Creating trance-like images, a different world through details. There isn’t just ONE person I could pick to style. Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Tilda Swinton…

Now that you’ve had your own session with me, how would you describe the experience? What would you tell women about a boudoir shoot?
This was one of the first times I was actually in front of the lens in a very long time. Even having such a great relationship with you, I still had anxieties of being photographed and sharing those images. As soon as I stepped in front of you: my nerves instantly calmed. Your direction and easy going personality is the foundation why our clients always feel so connected and at ease. I’ve experienced that now first hand. I wasn’t even planning on adding in the boudoir garments, and am so glad I did! [su_spacer size=”10″] [/su_spacer]Every woman deserves to have beautiful images that make her feel confident and sexy. For everyone that may be apprehensive about having a boudoir session, I guarantee it’s such a treasured moment that you’ll appreciate forever.

Thank you for truly capturing me in a way that makes me feel truly beautiful. The images found their home on my blog, the Sea & Serpent.
