Amanda and Raymond’s Little Rock Engagement Session

While Amanda and Raymond have known each other for over ten years, their courtship didn't begin until about two years ago when they randomly bumped into each other while out one night with friends. Raymond is a Police Officer and Amanda a nurse at Arkansas Children's Hospital. The pair are clearly devoted to helping other people and to each other. I love when I see a couple 'fit' so easily together. Raymond can make Amanda laugh that kind of laugh that only a best friend can, and his eyes light up at the sight of her smile. Here are a few of my favorite images from our session together in downtown Little Rock: ...

Kaylee and Colt’s Fayetteville Engagement Session – Ft. Smith Wedding Photography

I'm so excited to shoot Kaylee and Colt's Fort Smith wedding in October. Fall weddings are my favorite and I immediately fell in love with this couple, so I'm sure I'm going to have a great time shooting their big day! Kaylee and Colt grew up in Charleston, Arkansas and have known each other since childhood. Their love story began in high-school and after years of courtship, the two decided to buy a house together. In celebration of their new home, Colt had a few surprises up his sleeve. He had arranged for Kaylee to enjoy a day full of pampering, relaxation and gifts. After an unusually wonderful day, Colt popped the question and the rest is history in the making!   We headed to the Fayetteville Square and Stables On The Hill for their engagement session. I absolutely love the images we captured and have a few to share with you here. Don't forget to check out their slideshow at the bottom of this post for more of my favorite images! For more photos of this gorgeous couple, check out their slideshow here!...

Family Time

It's been a while since I've done a personal  post. To be honest, it's just been a little tough to open myself up and share anything personal over the past several months. In December, my mother-in-law past away unexpectedly and a few days later Andrew's uncle died, also out-of-the-blue. Needless to say, things have been tough and although we've been doing alright it is difficult to slow down and think too much about what has happened to our family. There is nothing more powerful than the bond of family and believing in your faith during a time of loss. It's been very important to me and Andrew to find extra time to spend together as a couple, as a family with Emma-Kate and also with our larger, extended family and friends. Time spent talking about our lost loved ones, evenings spent over dinner and wine, doing nothing much but watching our kids play, and simply spending more time together has been incredibly healing. Knowing that the wedding season is about to hit full force and my time will soon be split a million different directions, Andrew and I wanted to take some time just for 'us' to be alone for a weekend...

Why Consider a First Look – Arkansas Wedding Photography FAQs

Arkansas Wedding Photography: Why You Should Consider a "First Look" Since I shoot a lot of Arkansas wedding photography, a lot of brides ask me if she and her groom should see each other before the wedding. I usually say yes, but I always follow-up my answer with my personal and professional experience to explain why. I view the wedding day from a bride's perspective before approaching it as a photographer. I know what its like to finally be in the dress - nervous and waiting with anticipation - ready to walk down the aisle. My husband and I did not have a 'First Look' and I regret it. I'm not saying that it wasn't special seeing Andrew for the first time as the doors to the sanctuary opened. In fact, I cried like a baby. Seeing him that way just wasn't what I wanted or needed in that moment. All I wanted to do was wrap my arms around him, hug him and tell him how much I loved him. I was worried about how I looked crying and was worried about smearing my makeup. I wanted to feel comfortable and like myself, not a version of  myself on display...

Krista + Kirk’s Little Rock Maternity Portraits

Krista and I were sorority sisters in college and spent a lot of time together working on projects and events, so I was super excited to hear that she and her husband, Kirk, were expecting. I was even more excited when she contacted me about shooting some maternity portraits for her. I was thrilled when she said she wanted me to photograph their little boy's newborn, 6-month and one-year portraits too! There is nothing more amazing than watching a child grow through the lens of a camera, and I can't wait to meet the newest member of their family in May! We shot their session in Little Rock; Krista looked radiant and Kirk was absolutely smitten - There's nothing cuter than a couple expecting a bundle of joy! Here are some of my favorite portraits from Krista and Kirk's maternity session: ...

Lauren + Craig – Little Rock Engagement Photography

If you've ever met Lauren and Craig, you know that I'm speaking genuinely when I say that they are one of the most adorable couples I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. There is something about them that makes you feel all warm and mimsy inside. The couple grew up in the same small town of Sheridan and Craig's mother was Lauren's fourth grade teacher, but they never met because he is a few years older than she. A good friend and fate brought them together a few years ago to a dinner date at Cafe Prego in the Heights. Great conversation, great food and great wine were the beginnings of happily ever after. Photographing couples like Lauren and Craig make me feel so incredibly blessed. It is a rare thing to work in an environment that is filled to the brim with love, and I always come home after a shoot like this beaming - I truly love my job and am thankful to work with such happy people. We began Lauren and Craig's engagement session on the steps of the Robinson Center in downtown Little Rock. We walked around downtown for a bit and then headed to a quiet spot...
