Engagement Favorites from 2011

Most of my clients have engagement portraits taken, which I love! It's so great to get to spend a little bit of time together before the wedding so that we get to know eachother and the couple learns how to relax in front of the camera. It's also an awesome experience for the couple to get to really focus on each other. Wedding planning can be so crazy, hectic and stressful that often couples forget to really look at eachother and focus on their love for one another. An engagement session is the perfect opportunity to reconnect and have fun together. Here are a few of my favorite engagement portraits from 2011: ...

2011 in Review and 2012 Goals

Reflection Around the time we take down our Christmas tree I like to take some time to think back on what was and what will be. 2011 was a very rough year for my family. We ended 2010 with the loss of Andrew's mother and uncle. A few short months later, we were surprised to learn that we were unexpectedly expecting. Sadly, after some abnormal blood work we discovered at 4 months along the pregnancy was not viable and a month later, at 22 weeks, after many complications and unanswered questions we lost our baby. Following those rough months, the company that Andrew worked for began to experience some financial difficulties and we knew that a lay-off was looming on the horizon...

Emma-Kate’s Christmas Portrait

Every year I like to take a photo of Emma-Kate in front of the Christmas tree. This year, she's mastered the art of saying "cheese," so her portraits are often funny with a grin plastered from ear-to-ear. She's such a fun, spunky little girl and I just can't get enough of her enthusiasm for life! Here's one of the photos I snapped this year: ...

Merry Christmas Y’all!

Christmas is hands-down my favorite time of year. I'm one of those super mimsy, sings-Christmas-songs-all-year-long, decorating and baking kind of people. I just love how the Christmas season brings me back to magical childhood memories, and I adore seeing Emma-Kate explore and enjoy all of the merriment. Here is a glimpse into the Melody-Hubbell home this Christmas: We made a trip to Garvan Gardens to see the lights. If you're in Arkansas, and especially if you're close to Hot Springs, this is a MUST see. It's absolutely magical. Like being on a movie set or in a child's fairytale. Simply stunning. And to round this holiday post off, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite instagram pics from the past several weeks.  Have a very Merry Christmas y'all and a very Happy New Year!!...

Griffith Family Portraits in Little Rock

The Griffiths were the proud wining bidders of my silent auction donation to the Our House Tie One On event, which was held earlier this month. I was so excited that the winning bidder wanted to shoot their portrait so quickly after the event and that the Griffiths have a big, beautiful family with lots of smiling faces with perfectly polite and sweet personalities. I've never met a group of kids so well behaved - each child actually shook my hand an introduced themselves to me before we began shooting. My hat is off to Andrea and Barry for raising an amazing bunch of kiddos! Here are a few of my favorite portraits from our session together: This couple is clearly madly in love with each other and love to laugh, which made my job easy and fun! This last shot is my FAVORITE. Love the light, love the barn, love the happy kids and a glowing Mom! ...
